I really didn't fudging like it.

The wee!chesters were cute 'n all, and they did a great job mimicking J^2. I just didn't feel it, though. Especially the "never! talk about mom!" bit - I don't know whether it was the writing or the wee!dean, I just wound up wincing and not because it was heart-hurting.

Lots of good plot points in this ep, but for me - and maybe this is because of the whole hiatus thing - I just don't feel like it flowed right. Seemed really choppy to me.

Lots of predictability in this one. Did anyone not think they'd call Bobby and get the info immediately? Kudos for being called morons though - there's some Bobby lovin from me! It just seems like it's becoming another Colt issue, much like cell phones in BtVS. It's too easy. What is it now - four eps out of eight, they called Bobby who had the quick answer for them. It's no fun.

It was pretty spectacular that they killed the bad guys with a pieces of the xmas tree. Also the Anti-Clause want a cookie? while horrified kid pees himself cracked me up. Oh, and Silent bloody hell stop singing night was good too with creepy old man santa.

So there were a lot of good points, and maybe the biggest reason I didn't like this ep is that all the flashbacks were John-oriented, and we all know how much I hateth John Winchester. Anyway, this ep is going to the bottom of the pile.

You know what this review gets you? A giant raspberry and [livejournal.com profile] kroki_refur's Fabulous Drunk!Sam Seal of Disapproval!

So there.

And dude, before there was Bobby, there was John's journal. They've never had to look too hard to figure out what they were dealing with. Buffy had the books and Willow's mad hacking skilz, SPN has the journal and Bobby.

Okay. So, I watched it again. Twice more, actually.

Wasn't so bad the next time around. I think it was just the hiatus that threw me off.

Something I forgot in all the "HOMG! WHAT'S WRONG WHITH YOU!?!"

Dude, you really need to give up you're John!issues. Seriously. Those flashbacks were not all about John. Yes, they were talking about John, but absolutely everything was about SamnDean. It was about how much Dean hated lying to Sam, but at the same time, how desperately he wanted him to just be a kid. It was about how much they need each other, and them knowing that they mean the world to each other, that they are the most important thing in each other's lives. It was about Dean trying so hard to give Sam a real Christmas, even though he's a big ball of angry preteen. In other words, Show is all about subtlety and what's going on below the surface...LOOK CLOSER! :-p
