I'm being naughty and breaking the "no internet at work!" rule.  Shhhh.  Don't tell.

Is it just me or is time flying faster than ever?  It's already almost Easter.  When did that happen?

Chicago news: still hate it.  Although now that the move-date is coming faster, I'm starting to like it again in a "gosh, I'll miss my neighborhood hobo peeing on our dumpsters every morning," or "Oh, CTA, how I'll miss you always finding a way of making me 20min late for work on really important days," kinda way.  You know, sentamental things like that.  I also gave my resignation (finally) to iRi.  They were not pleased.  But, what can you do?  It's not like I really did all that much while I lived here.  Sheesh.

Indy news: Still waiting to hear back about my transfer status w/Omax.  Getting way nervous now.  I don't know if I have it in me to start looking for a job all over again in a strange place.  Frank and I are going apartment hunting this weekend while I'm there.  Looking for a two-bedroom, so we can have a game room/office area (between the two of us, we have 5 different game systems, and he wants to hook it all up into this massive entertainment thing.  I said: whatever.).  Between Indianapolis and Frankfort, probably, since we'll both have to commute.  And hopefully we'll be able to get a puppy:)

Move news: Yeah, see, I've never moved across state before, and it's a little bit odd thinking about things like declaring myself a citizen of a different state than which I was born and raised.  Having to get a new liscence.  Although, really, Indiana is just like Illinois, only there's no gigantuan city sucking up the state's population.  It's like Illinois Lite.  Also, I've never really "moved" except from college to home to college to my apt.  Which is not the same as moving from apt to apt in another place.  Not quite sure how this is going to work.  I've already started packing, though, and I went through and got rid of about half my wardrobe (is anyone else going WTF?) that I don't need, wear, or want anymore.  Frank helped - he was more than happy to.  He's a pretty minimal guy - a few t's, some jeans, and his work outfit and he's happy.  Um.  Me, not so much.

The worst/funniest/oddest part is that I still haven't told my parents.  Not that I'm seeing anyone, not that I'm moving, and definetely not that I'm moving in with my other in another state.  I don't think that conversation will go well.  It's just a theory.

Am I dreaming?  Am I asleep?

ETA: Oops, guess I typed too fast.  My parents do know that I'm seeing someone (Frank), but they don't know I'm moving to Indiana to be with him.  Sorry to give ya a heart attack, Vive ;)

Yeah as much as I love my girlfriend, I'm dreading the day I have to tell my parents we're moving in together. Granted that won't happen for a long long time anyway because it's been not nearly long enough, but someday it will and it just won't go well. Anyway, just wanted to let you know, I sympathize with the not wanting to tell parents things.

Moving is so fun!
You get to toss out stuff, clean stuff, see what you *have* and organize things. And then you get to find new places for your favorite old stuff!

You should compare with Frank about things like kitchen ware and such like. If you *both* have blenders, choose which is the nicest and give the other one to Goodwill or something, you know? That way you won't have tons of *things* just lying around, taking up space.

And label your boxes! At the very least put a 1, 2, 3 on them and then make a list in a notebook that 1 is - dishes, towels, cups - or whatever. So much easier to get to the essentials that way.

And good on you, weeding out the clothes! Less is more. Heh.

Good luck, bay-bee! You'll do fine, i just know it. And hey - new license means a chance to take a good picture! My license has a horrible picture, and it won't be renewed for like - six years.
Meep!
:)

You always find the positive, don't you? One of the things I love best about you! *smooch*

All very good advice, too:) (except the less is more with clothes thing...not sure I can follow that insane troll logic *g*)

Just call me Pollyanna!
Hehe.

Well, i watch 'What Not to Wear'! Stacey and Clinton always say, less is more.
:)

I know, i know, tv fashion people! But they're fun, and i can see the logic of having nice, high-end 'foundation' pieces and then having like - a nice selection of shirts and whatnot to mix and match with.

Not that i dress like that at all. I pretty much wear the same five things over and over. Heh.

*i hate shopping*

High-fashion Spike, ftw!

I belong to the school that suggests one present such events as faits accompli (?) to parents. Once you're there, moved in, have a new job...what are they gonna do? Try to talk you out of it. I agree with your decision to wait.

What kind of dog would y'all get?

faits accompli, huh? could work. good advice.

He wants a purebred Siberian husky. And I want a chocolate Lab. So, if we can find either one cheaper (and if we love him/her), that'll be the dog we choose. Once we upgrade to a house (LONG TERM goal), we wanna get another.

*horning in*
Try a rescue society. Lots of pure breeds are 'let go' because, basically, people suck. I bet you could find a wonderful pair of dogs *and* rack up karma points.
Heh.

(Especially labs and sibes, actually, because a lot of people buy purebred puppies not counting on their high work drives and end up overwhelmed by the dogs' energy once they hit 8 mos. to a year.)

OK, I really am done evangelizing, now.

I'd check out local rescues. There are always a ton of Labrador Retrievers in purebred rescue so you have many, many, many to choose from: http://www.cilra.org/ ("CILRA has taken in a litter of 7 black Lab puppies, aka The Paoli Pups. Both of the parents are Labs. They are healthy, happy and ready to go to their new homes. We have 6 females. These guys are big, fluffy pups." I WANT ONE! http://www.cilra.org/) (Sorry; I always have to proselytize about breed rescue since we had such an awesome experience with it.)

And for Sibes: http://www.siberianrescue.com/midwest.htm

I like breed rescue because you get the perks of buying a purebred dog but for a lot less money (the donation the IG rescue asked for was $250 each for our guys), and you're helping out with pet overpopulation &c. OK, I'll shut up now.

We want a house so bad too. Too bad we could afford a down payment of approximately fifteen bucks and some old comic books. We'll be renting for a while, still, but I yearn for a yard. And some damn privacy.

(Oh, and if your parents are peeved that you waited till after the move to fill them in you can always play innocent--"I didn't want you guys to worry or get stressed out!")

Wow, thanks for the info - I passed it along. He kinda grumbled (he *really* wants a puppy), but I'm gonna work on him.

We just want to rent a house - wayyyy too soon to buy. lol. But after thinking about it, we have no where near enough to furnish a house. We barely have enough for an apt.
