Wound up going to my class this morning afterall, and I'm kinda glad I did. There's only three classes left and if I didn't go this morning I just would have been kicking myself for it. So in the long run, being exhausted all day will make me feel better in two weeks when I'm kramming for the final.

Turned out not to be a horrible awful day, afterall. Not necissarily a good day, but one of those in-between. I managed to go back to sleep for an hour, so I missed the shuttle which meant I drove downtown today. Traffic was so-so, but there wasn't any parking so I had to park in the garage. So there went $7 I'll never see again. But I managed to get back to Barat in time to finish Catcher in the Rye before Research Methods. And the assignment that was due for Research Methods was pushed back till Thursday, so I didn't have to get a late grade afterall - just have to remember to *do* it tomorrow at work.

Speaking of Catcher - I wasn't impressed. I like it more now that we've discussed it a little bit, but I still don't understand just why it was so great. You know - I think maybe I'm going to stick to the books I'm happy with. You know, the ones where somethign actually happens? All this American Literature...not so much for me. I'm glad I got to read it because now I know what people mean when making reference to it. Just...wasn't the best book I ever read. And I do have to admit that I liked it less when Williams pointed out its parallels with Huck Finn. *cringe*

And now, I have exactly 2 and a half hours to write a paper and email it to my psych of men proffessor. If it's recieved even one second past midnight, he won't accept it. Maybe I'll talk Kierre into going out to the bar after I get it done. But for now, paper writing. My topic: "Modern men do or do not fulfill their roles as husbands/fathers" My title: "Hunter/Gatherer or Escapist/Abandoner."

So...later, dudes.

Wish you had more time, I'm married to an Escapist/Abandoner. I could give you insights to what it does to a family dynamic.

*hugs*

Which I posted without reading the above comment, which makes me seem flippant over a definitely unamusing topic.

I'm glad I'm not the only person in the world who doesn't understand why everyone goes on about "Catcher..."
Maybe you had to live in those times in order to see what was so shocking and new and outrageous about it.

Quite possibly. It was supposed to have cause a huge uproar or something. *shrugs*

I'm with you. 'Catcher in the Rye' was just NOT a really cool book, for me. Never once enjoyed it.
So - you are not alone!
Heh.

i think the big deal with "catcher" was its reputation for inspiring assassinations.

it's a very intelligent book, though. but it took my reading "six degrees of separation" to appreciate it.

and see, i didn't even know about the inspiring assassinations thing until everyone told me. *shrugs* i'm oblivious. heh.
