FB - Gingerbread homes etc

::waves hello::

I had read this in the past, lost it, and then found it again thanks to the good readers of bloodclaim. So why do i like this story? I love visions of Xander as a successful & independent man after the demise of Sunnydale. I want him to break free of the girls b/c there is a point when you have to be selfish. I also love that he has continued to follow a passion - restoration. The visuals of his home -- the place & the building, i covet both -- are clear, warm & inviting. I can see Xander in this place, curled up in front of the fire with Spike.

Its also true to the character. In that once free from the "saving the world" Xander would indeed so no to Spike because though he may love him completely, Xander knows he cannot go back to that roll.

I love that the others are so accepting, and so genuinely happy at Xander's success. While i enjoy buffy or willow bashing now & then, I also like the reminder that they canon-wise they were also friends - family.

So, yeah, the story is smooshy & perhaps sappy at times -- its a warm, fuzzy story about love, and growing-up, a little angst, and figuring out how to go on, and finding that which you thought was lost. And there is absolutely nothing wrong with that type of story, because it fills that need for companionship and a happy ending.

I'm glad you wrote and shared this story.

First, *blush*.

Second, thank you so much. This was one of my favorite stories to write. I knew that I wanted Xander to have what my version of everything he dreamed was. It seemed natural to me that this is the direction he would head in.

I'm also usually "way to go" with the bashing because there were times in the show that they didn't deserve him at all. But again, that's not what I wanted this story to be about.

Anyway, thank you very much for such lovely feedback!

In Sunlight or Shadow Sequel?

I love your story and I was wondering if possibly... are you going to do a sequel? I hate sad endings, I was upset that Xander had to die again for real this time. It kinda messed up the ending I had planned out in my head, I'm one of those 'and they lived happily ever after' kinda girls.

Anyways, loved the story but not so much the ending.

Re: In Sunlight or Shadow Sequel?

Thanks for reading, and commenting!

I've gotten a lot of FB on the ending for that fic. I have decided to do an optional epilogue for the readers who were dissapointed at the ending. But, I haven't actually gotten around to plotting it out or writting it. It will eventually happen, I'm just not sure quite when.

Thanks again!

Hi.

Hi there! I was looking for buffy icons and yours were the best. I just wanted to know more about the spike/xander pairings and what are the gay icon from? I think it's Queer As Folk Us, but I haven't seen it, so that's just a wild stab in the dark.

Re: Hi.

Some of the gay icons I have are from QAF US, but most of them are just random pics I found on the web. If you're perseverant, you could find them almost anywhere.

The Spike/Xander pairing is my relationship of choice. I'm a slash writer, meaning that I read and write mostly gay relationships, and almost always Spike/Xander:)

Hi, I hope I am doing this right.

I was put onto 'Gingerbread Homes and Christmas Wishes' by LadyQ, who does a wonderful job of keeping me informed of good stories and authors for my site The Spander Files http://spanderfiles.com/

I would really like to add you.

This is a wonderful story and I'm so pleased LadyQ pointed me your way.

My site is just an archive site for Spander stories, grouped into categories.

May I archive you please? Do you have more Spander stories I may add?

Well thank you so much!

You can archive if you like, whatever you like. Check out my website (links on my profile) for the other spander stories I've got.

Thanks so much!

Thank you, that's very nice of you. I'm always looking for more Spander.

Let me know if you have a favourite icon to use as the contact icon on your pages. I like to use something identifiable with the author, preferably with the authors name on it if possible.

I'll send you a link when I have your page done.

Hehe. Thanks so much. Any of the icons in my userpics are fine - most of them are mine, anyway. Also, there's a link on Forgotten Psychosis to my digital imaging site which has icons on it - Digital Wanderings.

Gingerbread Homes and Christmas Wishes

Hi, Darling,

I've just discovered this story on the Spander Files and am going to find it difficult
to say just how much I loved it.

The story was written so originally although the basics of it are pretty well
standard. The quality of the writing was stupendous - especially considering that you're only a baby! Your presentation is so mature and well constructed and, thank god for gay males wwriting slash now and again, the sex was miles away from the all-too-frequent cliche. I have to say that, for me, the whole thing reverberated with echoes of Repossession - and I don't say that lightly.

Thank you for a gorgeous Christmas story, you old romantic you, I loved it and, when I get around to updating my website would love to include it in my Spander recs.

*Hugs and kissses and a million good wishes for the new year*
