To get an A (a low one at that), I need to get 100% on the final. But if I get a middle C on the final, I'll wind up with a middle B for the class. This is important, because I need to decide how much effort I'm going to put into studying for that final.

Should I stress myself out knowing that I will most likely not get the grade I want, or should I slow down and take the grade I'm still happy to get?

my attitude was pretty much always to take the grade I was willing to get, and not put a huge ammount of stress or effort in beyond that point. If you've got scholerships or other funding that depends on grades you might need to choose differently.
