that's funny, i just got a copy of that last week as i read Merrick on my travels through the Vampire Chronicles, and i wanted to know more, and i actually was gripped by the book, but prolly cuz i am weird like that, even though it is quite boring. that is until i forgot to give my cat his hairball medicine and he puked all over the book. oh well. its currently drying/deskanking out on the windowsill! :)

No, I've read it before. I do positively love the book. Anne Rice is brilliant, and this is her forte. I had to read it for one of my classes, and I thought I was going to die trying to finish it. But, I did it in 5 days. Now my eyes want to hop out of their sockets.
