First, I just want to say thanks to everyone on my flist that gave me happy wishes. *hugs you all*
So behind the cut is the details about
Oh, my god. I wish I could only have the words to tell you how much fun I had and how happy last night made me. It was such a rush being out there and being LEGAL and being allowed to do whatever I wanted. It was just, and I'm not exagerating this at all, one of the best and happiest days of my life. Just blows my mind away how different I feel. Never before after a bithday did I feel any older or any different at all. So this is kinda wierd. But, good wierd. *g*
Okay, so there's big news, but I'll post it later tomorrow after I get all the sordid details sorted and filed. Don't want to tease you or jinx it, so mum's the word.
As for the actual boozing it up - good times. We started out by going to dinner at my favorite resaurant, Leona's. Genevieve suprised me by having the waitress bring a dish of vanilla ice cream with a candle and whisper happy birthday (I hate that big singing thing) to me. That was a very nice way to start out.
From there we headed over to Lincoln Park and grabbed a shot and drink at Leland James, which is a very hip, chill little place. Thought it was pretty cute, but it was kind of breeder central, so don't know if I'll go there often. We did get our drinks free for my birthday, though, which was nice:)
And from Leland James we headed to the scene of the crime: Roscoe's, on the corner of Halstead and Roscoe. Possibly one of the most famous Chicago gay bars. Anyway, there was no cover and it was still pretty quiet at 9:30 when we got there. By 10pm it was packed because of the Drag Races. We picked out our little nook and ordered up some pitchers - Absolut Manderin Cosmos, yum - and from there on everything kind of fades in and out *g*. Grace got Frida Lay to announce my birthday and sing to me on the stage. For about 3 minutes there were about 200 gay men staring at *me*. After that it was all kinds of free drinks and cheek kisses for me from complete strangers. Met a ton of really nice guys who all can't wait to see me again (no really, they said that!). I can't remember the last time I had that much fun, and felt so completely comfortable with myself.
From Roscoes we headed over to Cocktail's right across the street. They had go-go boys there, dancing and I couldn't help myself - I got out my wallet and spent 8 bucks tipping one extremely gorgeous guy who continued to flirt with me (and I, him) for quite a while. He got up to do another set just as we were leaving, and he called me over and gave me a lap dance and all kinds of...fun. Wound up making out with him for a few minutes after his set. We exchanged numbers! A GO-GO BOY SAID I WAS CUTE AND FUN, AND WANTED *MY* NUMBER!!! Name's Charlie as it turns out. Hee!
Anyway, we left there a little before 2am and stumbled back a block to the girls' apartment. Tripping, falling, and stumbling, I made it up the stairs and passed out the second I hit the couch.
So that's the long short story. Was such a fucking blast. I think I might go to Roscoe's this Friday because it's Drag Bingo.
