Okay, so it turns out that carrying both a backpack chock full o'books and binders and also carrying my MASSIVE laptop in its already heavy bag is not so much a good idea when I'm already in pain.

Ouch.

And I'm not especially happy because something is wonky with my MP3 player. This does not please me. What does please me, however, is that I've got the three year replacement warranty on it, which means - I don't have to pay a cent to have it completely replaced. I shall do that tomorrow, providing I don't wind up coming down here for a study session.

Very interesting today, because while I was sitting in Psychology of Men (And How They Opress Women), I came up with two more short story ideas. One is about a doctor who finds the chemical reason for what causes love to happen. The other is about a gay Nightclub in moderate sized city that pumps out drugs and music to make their patrons take over the world. I really like how creative and far-out my mind has been getting lately. Especially since it's all non-fanfic stuff. Not that I don't lurve me some fandom writing, but sometimes you need a change, ya know? And it's been sooo long since I've had the chance to write anything original. Now, to schedule some time to do said original writing...hmmm...

And now, a very small exerpt from a piece I'm working on, entitled Dark Prisms. There isn't much yet - this is just the opening.

There was a time, I am told, that there were only two sides: us, and them. We no longer know who threw the first bomb – our side or theirs. What we do know is that with one single explosion – the culmination of centuries’ worth of torture, intolerance, and ignorance – a spark was ignited. It was the last spark needed to detonate a chain of reactions that has led to the world we now know. With that detonation, it was no longer us and them; it was now us against them. Who could have known that it was the beginning of something larger than anyone could have comprehended? Who could have predicted that one single event could pitch mankind into a war that threatened civilization? A war that would leave every man, woman, and child quivering and cowering in fear, completely alone, and craving death. The point is – they didn’t know. The tragedy, I fear, is that we also didn’t know.

Hey, I thought of you today during my English class. We're reading Pat Barker's Regeneration and someday--When You Have Some Time, ha ha--you should read it. It supports my theory that the biggest trauma of WWI was the toll it took on men's psyches by forging and then violating these very intense bonds out on the battlefield.

You'd like it; it's good.

I'm glad you're giving this bunny some time, Brad. I think it's a good bunny, and will grow up to make fine stew. *vbg* Nice cryptic distopian beginning.

Oh, listen, about club_joss. Lorraine has been thinking. Ha ha, yes I know that's funny. Anyway, I was thinking that you and I should compile a backup list of fics for the group for a couple reasons. First, a reccer could get sick or whatever and rl could just prevent them from making a rec in time; or an author could take too long getting back to a reccer; or we might need to kinda diversify things (if the last three reccers have submitted ethan/giles slash or something). If we had a back up list of a handful of fics, we'd never have to worry about not getting a fic out there in time.

Emella told me last night that she had emailed the person about the fic she wants to rec, so she's on the ball.

I printed out Letters and made notes and underlined things and everything. Lorraine is prepared. Heeee....I think we'll have lots to talk about.

I'll see you on AIM tonite. *smooch*

You can borrow my copy if you want, at the end of the quarter. It's part of a trilogy; I really want to track down the next two books.

"the chemical reason for what causes love to happen"

I thought that was oxytocin... I'm almost sure it has something to do with it.

That stimulizes certain glands and a chemical something or other, yes. But as of yet, they've found no "cause" for love, chemical or otherwise.

I will see you again, no doubt.

And as far as I know, The Bean is still hiring--especially people with foodservice (and coffee) experience.
