I see the light!
Alright, I'll stop with the spammage (geeze it's quiet around LJ lately - did I scare you off with all my meddlesome RL crapola?) right after this post.
I'm almost done with the "hardest" part of the proposal. As any researcher or research-beginner or research student probably knows, the most challenging part of writing up a proposal or a study is the introduction. Not only do you have to somehow make a multitude of previous research fit into mere lines of text, you also have to make it fit into *your* research, which can be excruciating at times. Especially if you're working in a field where research is scarce at best. And then, wouldn't you know it, you have to come up with your own hypothesis and your own reasoning for doing the research to begin with.
The point I'm trying to make is that I'm almost done with the introduction. Not that the rest is going to easy as pie or anything, because I still have to find an appropriate statistical test to analyze data that I don't have and explain the reason that I'm using the instrument I'm using, which I also still don't have. However, I can now safely say that, with perhaps a page more of the introduction to go, I can see the light at the end of this very dark and very time-consuming tunnel.
And for this, I give an orgasmic (no, really) cry of ecstacy, excitement, and sweet sweet exhaustion.

Birthday Flyer

For those of you that were interested, I finally managed to get my birthday flyer uploaded as a .jpg image.
I'm sooooo slick!
Hah! I've found the two measurement instruments that I'm going to include in my article - the Aung Self-Rating Depression Scale and the Center for Epidemicological Studies Depression Scale (CES-D). AND I found them online for FREE - if I had ordered them through the "proper channels" it would have cost me upwards of $100. And this makes me ecstatic! No really, this sort of happenstance is a psych major's dream. Cause for a post-finis celebration. *whoot*
Oh, and cross your fingers - I think I've found an apartment. I'm going down to check it out on Friday. Wouldn't it be great if I could sign the lease on or before my birthday? Then I would have at least one problem checked off as "Dealt With". How exciting!
And now - to go and finish off my research proposal. I am a very happy, very excited, and ever-so brilliant (though not particularly modest) psychology major.
I'm also a very tired one - so much to do and so little time left. 4 weeks left of school!

I am finished. With 90% of it that is. The other 10% will have to be completed tomorrow before class because I don't know how to correctly reference my instruments (is it sad that now, when people say "instrument" I automatically assume they're talking about a survey, questionaire, etc?), and because I'm not sure which statistical test to use to obtain the results. I'm almost positive it should be a simple Pearson Correlation, since there are only two variables and no treatment (that rules out the ANOVA), but I am comparing two sets of data. It's tricky. But again, almost positive it will be the simple t-test set an alpha of .05.
Anyway, the main point is: I'm done!!!! *whoot*
Which means that now I can go and finish the Great Gatsby, maybe watch a movie, and go to bed early. Oh man, if only you knew how much this excites me.
